Danny Wallace was a baseball hero at Virginia Tech with prospects of playing pro ball. Brought back home to the family jewelry business by loyalty, he and his wife Cady planned to raise their two boys in quiet suburbia. These plans were upended when Danny was coerced into a dangerous mission. He was asked to join America’s elite fighting force, the Navy Seals. The mission was to end the trafficking of blood diamonds into America. The blood diamond pipeline is controlled by a cartel of elected officials in Sierra Leone, led by the prime minister. Caught in the middle are the people of Sierra Leone. These people were oppressed and tortured so millions in stones continued to flow to the rich and affluent all over the world. This provided the terrorists of the world with much needed capital.
Why this book?
The loose diamond market has been inundated over the last years with large retailers. From the online presence of " Blue-Nile " to the retail giant " Wal-Mart ". Diamonds are more available and affordable than ever in history. Guys are expected to spend 3 months salary on a rock no bigger than a pencil eraser. I hope to make this process a little less stressful.
